What Drew Me to Counseling

My path to counseling began with a lifelong curiosity about the human mind and what shapes our behavior. Growing up in a family with a strong tradition of serving others, I came to see compassion and understanding as the foundation of meaningful work.

For me, counseling is a calling. Helping people make sense of their experiences and move toward healing gives my work purpose. I approach that responsibility with humility, recognizing that my role is one part of your larger journey.

My professional experience spans adult inpatient mental health care; residential care for children and adolescents, including teen mothers and their babies; military mental health; outpatient private practice; and integrated behavioral health. I have also served in clinical leadership roles and supported the professional growth and development of other clinicians.

My approach combines space to explore your experiences with practical skill-building. We’ll work together to understand your concerns and shape treatment around what matters to you.

My training includes cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-focused approaches.

Before you begin

A little clarity
for your next step.

How do I get started?

Email the practice to ask about availability and next steps. Include your state and whether you’re seeking counseling or professional services. Please keep sensitive clinical details out of the initial email.

What will the first session be like?

We’ll discuss what brings you to counseling, relevant background, and your goals. You’ll have room to ask questions and explore whether the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit.

Can I seek therapy for a severe or long-standing mental health condition?

Yes. An initial assessment helps determine whether outpatient therapy fits your current needs. Therapy can complement psychiatric care; medication management is provided by a qualified prescriber. We’ll discuss referrals if more intensive support is needed.

There’s a next step. It can be a small one.
